Sheep called to be shepherds

14"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd."
John 10: 14-16

A group of sheep called to be shepherds met on Saturday here at Twin Lakes. It was a motley crew of sinners and saints seeking to prepare for our trip on January 1st. We don't offer much - just the message that has been given to us. We're not good shepherds, but we hope that our effort in Peru will look like the work of our Good Shepherd. He is infinitely faithful, good, and patient. We believe with certainty that He can accomplish His mission through us by His grace and His Spirit.

The meeting was a blast - filled with games, videos, and introspective sessions all for the sake of being reminded of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus communicated through metaphors so that His listeners could understand the truth (my how good He is to be patient with sheep like us!) We discussed scriptural metaphors and pictures that could describe why, how, and what we are going to do in Peru. The planning meeting, though definitely marked by the details of international travel, was primarily marked by a desire to dig into scripture, be faithful in prayer, and strive for Gospel servanthood.

Ways you can help:
  • Pray for us - all the final details, support raising, and safety as well as softened hearts for our team as well as the children we will serve.
  • Give - We need partners to help pay for T-shirts for the children and staff. If you are interested, we'd love to talk with you!
  • Send - last year we were able to bring suitcases full of supplies and gifts for the orphanage in Trujillo. This year, the airline is charging $50 per extra suitcase, and our support cannot cover that cost. If you would like to fill an old suitcase and send us with it - let us know!

Twin Lakes Summer Camp goes south!

This January 1st - 9th, Twin Lakes will be visiting Peru for the third time in as many years. We will be working with Peru Mission to pull off summer camp in Trujillo. The kids in Trujillo are excitedly sporting their Twin Lakes / Peru Mission t-shirts from years past, and the team is diligently preparing to visit Peru and share the love of Christ and the Gospel with everyone we meet.

Please keep us in prayer as we prepare and travel to Peru to share the Gospel with churched and unchurched kids, orphans and taxi drivers. Pray that we would be faithful in our call and that the financial support we need would pour in. If you have any questions or would like to support one of our team members give Tuan a call (601-845-6858) or drop him an email (tuan@twin-lakes.org).

We'll giving you all updates as we progress; thanks for your prayers and concern!
